Folio AAC

Privacy Policy

Effective 13 June 2026

Folio AAC is built so that your communication stays yours. This policy describes exactly what the app does with data, in plain language.

What stays on your device (everything, by default)

Optional cloud suggestions (off by default)

If you explicitly turn on "Allow cloud suggestions" in Settings, Folio sends the current conversation snippet (the partner's recent words, your draft, and up to six of your recent phrases) to our server to generate better suggestions, along with a random identifier for your install used solely for rate limiting. We do not send your name or contact details and do not have accounts. Snippets are processed by our infrastructure and a third-party large-language-model provider under contract, are not used to train models, and are not stored beyond processing. Turning the toggle off, or turning on School Mode, stops all cloud requests. School Mode cannot be overridden by other settings.

What we collect

If cloud suggestions are enabled: the random install identifier described above (a "device identifier" in App Store privacy terms), used for rate limiting and abuse prevention only, not linked to your identity, never used for tracking or advertising. If cloud suggestions are off (the default): nothing. Folio has no analytics SDKs and no ads.

Children and schools

Folio does not knowingly collect personal information from children. With School Mode on, Folio operates entirely on-device, which is how we recommend schools deploy it. Purchases are processed by Apple, not us.
